About the regional Association
The Vino Dalmacije (Wine of Dalmatia) Association is a regional association of winemakers and winegrowers in Dalmatia. The Association covers the area of four Dalmatian counties. Dalmatia, as a treasure trove of indigenous wine varieties, represents the cradle of Croatian winemaking, and occupies around 32% of total vineyard areas.
The Association was founded in 2012, and today, alongside the Management Board, there is a team that runs the association at a highly professional level. Two important events are held every year: the Wine of Dalmatia Festival and the Dalmatian Wine Icons.
The Association works as a representative body in communication with state institutions, line ministries and agencies, and is responsible for legislation in the field of wine and viticulture.
The main goal of the Association is to position Dalmatia as a region known for its superior wines and to strengthen the wine brand in the country and abroad, which is achieved through encouraging the development of wine tourism, improving winemaking practices, and promoting native Dalmatian varieties. Furthermore, efforts are being made to encourage a revision of the legal framework for planting of vineyards, wine production and winery development, as well as to develop public tenders for improving business.
The Association also plays an important role in organizing events, fairs and professional meetings for the exchange of knowledge and experiences, and special emphasis is placed on marketing activities on the foreign market and the engagement of renowned international wine experts for the purpose of promoting Dalmatia as a prestigious wine region.
